1. I am interested in finding housing. How can you help me/ What does Housing Solutions do?

Housing Solutions is a matching service that uses your specific housing needs to create an individualized list of available housing. Our extensive database includes many listings that you will not find anywhere else. You can use this info to contact landlords and make appointments to see properties. You can save time and effort because you will only be viewing properties that match your requirements. We have listings all over the Ithaca area and in the surrounding towns, and can help find housing for students, families, professionals, and more.

2. How can I use your service?

There are two ways to use our service to find housing. You can use our website to search our database of listings and create your own list quickly and easily. We also have an office in Collegetown right off the Cornell Campus. If you visit our office, you can use our self-serve computer to create your own housing list.

3. How much does it cost?

Searching for housing is absolutely FREE! Once you have searched and found listings that match you, you can go ahead and register for free to create your own personal account which will allow you to view the contact information for the listings. If your access code runs out before you find housing, just click on the "Get New Access Code" link in your account to request another free code. Remember to let the landlords know you found them through Housing Solutions!

4. How often are the listings updated?

Our website is setup so that landlords and subletters are able to log into their accounts and remove their listings as soon as they are rented. At the bottom of each listing page, you will see the date on which the landlord or subletter last logged in to update their listing.



Landlords

1. I am a landlord with a property that I would like to rent out. How can you help me?

We are a tenant-landlord matching service. When you list your property with us, we provide your information to people who are specifically looking for properties like yours. Your listings will be available for view by anyone who visits our office and by clients inside and outside of Ithaca on our website. Anyone interested in your sublet will contact you directly to discuss seeing it.

2. How long does my listing last?

Your listing will remain active for 3 months after the date of payment. If you wish to extend your listing at the end of the three months, simply contact our office to make payment arrangements.

3. How much does it cost to list?

There is a fee of $30 per listing. A single apartment, single house, or room(s) count as one listing. If you are listing five different apartments, that will count as five different listings. Please note that listings are non-transferable. If you list an apartment/house and it rents, you cannot put another apartment/house up in its place without paying a $30 fee.

4. How can I make changes to my listing after I submit it?

When you register with Housing Solutions, you create an online account with a username and password. You may log in anytime to access your listings, add new listing, or update existing ones. You can also email, fax, or call in your changes during business hours, Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm.

If you prefer to have grad students, professionals, or families, you may note that on your listing.

5. Can your guarantee that my listing will rent?

Since Housing Solutions helps thousands of people find housing each year, your chances of renting through us are excellent. Please be aware that there are different rental trends each year and that it is easier to rent during certain times of the year as opposed to others. If you would like advice on making your listing more attractive, please call us.

6. Can I get a refund if my property does not rent?

We have a no refund policy. If you are having difficulty renting out your property, a Housing Solutions representative will be more than happy to provide you with extra assistance in making your listing more attractive to potential tenants.

7. Do you remove listings/How do you update?

If we do not receive any responses to our update inquiries after one month, your listing is placed on hold until we hear from you. Please note that you can log into your account at any time and update your listing as needed.

8. Can I add pictures/ floorplans to my listing?

Yes. You can add up to two pictures to your listing for free. When you enter your account, simply click on the contact name of your listing. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the upload links to upload your pictures or floorplans. Please note that pictures and floorplans are subject to approval by Housing Solutions staff. If you would like to add more than two pictures, please contact the Housing Solutions office.



Need to Find A Subletter?

1. I have a place that I need to sublet out/ I need to find someone to take over my lease. How can you help me?

We are a matching service. When you list your sublet with us, we provide your information to people who are specifically looking for sublets like yours. Your sublet will be available for view by anyone who visits our office and by clients inside and outside of Ithaca on our website. Anyone interested in your sublet will contact you directly to discuss seeing it.

2. How much does it cost?

It costs $20 to list one sublet for the spring, summer, fall, or full year sublet. For the $20 fee, your sublet will stay listed until it rents for the sublet period that you designate. Please note that sublet periods cannot be combined and you will need to pay separately for each sublet period under which you want your listing to be placed. For example, if you would like your sublet to be listed under the spring and summer categories, you will need to list it separately under both. We offer a special discounted rate of $10 for listing your sublet under a second category as long as the second listing is for the same apartment, room, or house and it is within the same school year (e.g., if you need to list a sublet for the spring and summer, the total cost is $30).

3. Can you guarantee that I will find a subletter?

Since Housing Solutions helps thousands of people find housing each year, your chances of finding a subletter are excellent. However, it is important to note that certain types of sublets are more attractive than others. The most successful sublet listings are usually the ones that are negotiable in terms of rent. Proximity to the schools, number of rooms, and sublet length are other categories that can determine the success of your listing. If you would like advice as to how to make your sublet look more attractive, please call our office and we will be happy to help you.

4. Can I get a refund if my sublet does not rent?

We have a no refund policy. If you are having difficulty finding subletter, a Housing Solutions representative will be more than happy to provide you with extra assistance in making your listing more attractive to potential subletters.
